Commander Suit

Heavier better quality suit of Armor. (C1775) purchased “as-is” from a TOKYO auction. Repaired lacquer on the DO. Construction in Laquer over Iron. Ian Bottomly’s book refers to this style Helmet (Monmonari) Being worn with better quality suits. And styled after the Spanish MORION. The leather crests on the box were taken from the suit came in. There are KATABAMI crests on the hand guards. And the crease on the helmet is thought to refer to rank and not family. (mid level field commander’s suit. Very nice matching suit in excellent condition. This would be considered a "good suit" of armour with lots of quality details and upgrades. Much heavier construction, winged shoulder guards, engraved piping around dou, many plated haidate, forearms, well cut menpo---I've seen Daimyo suits of lesser construction. The suit came with the Momonari helmet and Ian Bottomley's book tells us that that's not uncommon with better quality suits, although I'm certain that this suit started it's life out with a much higher-end kabuto. The cloth, the dimpled gold pattern, etc. match with the exception of the black Momonari. There's been lacquer repair to the dou, other- wise it looks as it came from Japan in 2005. (The ka-mon is the katabami flower)"
